A Deepening into Light: Q&A with Abstract Painter Melanie Field

A Deepening into Light: Q&A with Abstract Painter Melanie Field

Following her debut solo exhibition Orchestra of Light (2023), Melanie Field returns with Natural Phenomena, a new body of work that deepens her intuitive, process-led practice. Moving further into mark-making, scale and restraint, the paintings explore the balance between control and flow, translating unseen energies and natural forces into layered, immersive surfaces. The works emerge through trust, presence, and a quiet listening,  inviting viewers to feel what cannot be seen.

In Focus: Our New Pocket Exhibition Series

In Focus: Our New Pocket Exhibition Series

A Pocket Exhibition presents a focused body of up to 15 works within an intimate section of the gallery, offering collectors the opportunity to engage deeply with a meaningful moment in an artist’s practice. Rather than isolated works, this format reveals a cohesive chapter where ideas, materials and themes unfold with clarity. The series launched with Aida Smith’s Home.land, and continues with forthcoming shows by Laurette Looker and Kirsten Lovelock. Each exhibition opens with an intimate gathering with the artist, while the wider gallery remains thoughtfully curated with works from our stable of artists.

Sean Beldon: Expansive Skies and the Final Barn Paintings

Sean Beldon presents new paintings released ahead of his exhibition programme later this year, the only new works available to collectors in the coming months. The group includes expansive landscapes exploring light, weather, and shifting memory, final works from his much-loved Barn Series, and a new mountain painting featuring Mt Taranaki. Together, these paintings mark both a natural conclusion and a quiet evolution within Sean’s practice, reflecting continuity, depth, and an ongoing expansion of his approach to landscape.
