Cans & Cameras brings photography and street art together in a vibrant new body of work. Drawing on the streets of New York and Melbourne, Rachel transforms photographic imagery through spray paint, stencil and layered interventions. Architecture, people and fleeting moments are reworked with colour, texture, humour and hidden messages that reveal themselves gradually.
About Rachel Rush
Rachel Rush is an Auckland-based contemporary artist whose practice spans two distinctive collections: Rachel Rush Contemporary and RUSH. Working with acrylics, stains and resin, she creates original abstract artworks rich in colour, depth and movement.
Her RUSH works draw on the energy of urban street art, from Melbourne’s laneways and the remnants of the Berlin Wall to the streets of New York. Layered surfaces, luminous finishes and bold interventions bring the atmosphere of these environments into contemporary interiors.
