BIO
Richard Boyd-Dunlop is a self-taught artist based in Hawke's Bay who has been exhibiting his work for over 25 years.
Richard’s work is characterised by a bold use of colour, often on large-scale canvases. In his more recent practice, Richard has expanded into new media including holographic vinyl and digital formats. These vibrant, colour-saturated works draw inspiration from current events, popular culture and iconic figures. Through repetition and layering, they evoke alternate realities and engage the viewer’s senses. The holographic elements introduce an interactive quality, shifting in colour and composition depending on the viewer’s position.
