Lauren Hunt is an accomplished artist and educator with over 17 years’ experience in glassblowing. Her passion for the medium began at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Upon graduation, she launched her career at the prestigious Corning Museum of Glass in New York, refining her skills through the Hot Glass Show and the innovative Blow Glass at Sea program, performing and demonstrating her craft to audiences around the world.
Years of travel profoundly influenced Lauren’s artistic vision, with shifting landscapes and diverse cultures inspiring her dynamic approach to colour and form. Her current work is a harmonious blend of artistry and precision, creating thoughtfully balanced, meticulously crafted pieces.
In the United States, Lauren has taught and created at respected institutions including The Corning Museum of Glass, Penland School of Craft, and The Lost Pines Art Center. Since relocating to New Zealand, she has embraced new opportunities, teaching at Amokura Glass in Rotorua and Monmouth Glass Studio in Auckland.
Now based in Auckland, Lauren works as a glass fabricator while wearing many hats in the glass art community, as an instructor, studio assistant, Secretary of NZSAG (nzsag.com) and dedicated artist, producing work for galleries throughout New Zealand.
