Swan Swimming in the Stars | Textile | by Helena Skerlj-Rovers
Helena leaned into the nostalgic early 2000s feeling of Sentimental Animals and The Swan as a starting point for this series, weaving in a surrealist influence. Before beginning the works, she had been looking closely at American outsider and folk art, and was particularly inspired by German American artist Gustave Klumpp, especially drawn to his compositional style, decorative motifs, and bold use of colour. Helena created the largest work in the series first, using it as a springboard for the smaller pieces, gradually fleshing out an imagined world and landscape while honing in on key details. She also experimented with textures and materials, incorporating hand stitching and appliqué to bring additional depth and tactility to the works.

New Zealand Deliveries
- In‑stock unframed artworks and small objects are typically dispatched within 2–5 working days.
- Orders are shipped Monday–Friday via trusted courier services.
- All parcels include tracking and signature on delivery.
- If an item is temporarily out of stock, we’ll notify you with an updated timeframe.
Framed & Large Artworks
- Framed or large works require specialised packing.
- Please allow an additional 2–3 weeks for custom framing before dispatch.
- We’ll confirm an expected delivery window with you once your order is finalised.
International Shipping
- We’ll provide a personalised shipping quote for international orders.
- Any duties or taxes charged by the destination country are the responsibility of the customer.

If, however, you do experience an issue, you must discuss it with us first an any exchange or credit for an item that has been purchased is at our sole discretion.
Please do not send goods back to us before you have discussed the issue with us. If we agree that goods can be sent back to us the shipping cost for the return of the goods will be the customers responsibility unless the goods are faulty and we have agreed to cover the return shipping costs.
If we allow an exchange or credit the item must be returned within 14 days of purchase. It must be in its original packaging and in the same condition that it was in when you received it. You must also provide the original receipt or other proof of purchase.
We are unable to accept returned goods that have been damaged by the customer. If artwork has been commissioned on behalf of the customer it cannot be returned. Also, there are no refunds or exchanges on gift vouchers, sale items or layby items.
If goods are faulty or unfit for purpose then they may be returned to the Gallery. We reserve the right to repair or replace the goods that have been returned in this situation. If the item is unable to be repaired or replaced we will offer an instore credit or gift voucher valid for 12 months. We do not provide cash refunds.
If the product has been damaged in transit you must notify us on receipt. We request that you check the goods when you sign for them and let us know immediately if there is an issue. We will then work with the courier company for a resolution. We will cover any additional shipping fees for a replacement.
