Emerging artist Naomi Faifai delights us with her colourful paintings
We are always on the look out for fabulous new artists to join our gallery from around New Zealand. One of the latest artists to join us is rising talent Naomi Faifai.
Naomi is a self taught artist based in Marlborough. Growing up surrounded by art (her mum is an artist) and influenced by her Samoan/Māori heritage, Siapo (tapa cloth), and routine everyday moments, Naomi doesn't take her work or herself too seriously. The result is a playful energy that brings pure joy to her canvases. Cars, houses and dogs feature alongside nature, abstract shapes and bold colour, creating joyful artworks that truly delight.
Creating is something Naomi has felt compelled to do since a young age, always experimenting with new processes and media and whatever happened to be available on hand. Naomi currently enjoys working with mixed media, her favourite being inks, loving the flow and unpredictability they offer.
