FACE FORWARD | Group Portrait Show | 14 - 30 August 2025

FACE FORWARD is a group exhibition exploring the evolving language of portraiture in contemporary art. Bringing together artists from around Aotearoa, it offers fresh perspectives on the human face and figure through a diverse mix of styles, techniques and mediums.

From realism to abstraction, the works consider identity, emotion and presence. Some challenge traditional portraiture through bold distortions and surreal compositions, while others explore memory, cultural identity and self-expression. Works span canvas, panel, paper and textile.

Together, these approaches show portraiture’s enduring relevance and its power to connect across time, culture and experience.
