Jason has worked with his hands for over two decades, but finding carving has been a revelation. It is his passion and he cannot stop.
Jason hand carves sculptural bowls and dishes. These objects might be put to use, or may serve the equally important function of existing for the pleasure that comes from gazing and touching.
'I work slowly, mostly with hand tools, and embrace the long and rich lineage of crafting. Working unhurriedly affords me the opportunity to reflect on what it is I do, on the materials with which I work, and on the waste I am responsible for producing. It also allows for a quietude that suits me well.'
Through his craft Jason strives to marry quality and beauty, with respect to the world's finite resources. 'You will not see hundreds of pieces made with these hands, just a few, just my best.'
