Flora and fauna is the world of living things. “Flora” designates plant life, and is also the Roman goddess of plants and flowers. In Roman mythology, Flora symbolized nature, flowers and fertility. Fauna was the Roman goddess of animals, wildlife, fertility and spring.

Nature has been an inspiration for centuries. During the Art Nouveau period nature was the single most important source for artists and designers. They often adapted motifs from the natural world, making it so that nature and modernity came to mean almost the same thing.
